A time and a space to discover the ancient art of Matera, bread.
An experience in one of the city’s historic bakeries, to discover Matera bread and traditional baked products. The sense of smell, hearing, sight and touch will be activated by the colours, sounds and aroma that the Forno di Gennaro can offer.
A workshop where we will tell you the story of Matera through bread and reveal the secret of its recipe. It will be an opportunity to literally get your hands in a real traditional and modern bakery at the same time. You will discover how tradition and innovation have mixed in the art of bread-making in Matera.

After an initial introductory part in which an expert, with the help of vintage images and photos, will talk about the tradition of bread in the Sassi of Matera, its history, and the uses that revolved around this basic food of the Mediterranean diet, we will move on to the practical part. With the help of a baker, each of the participants will make and bake a loaf of Matera bread.
At the end of the workshop there will be a tasting/aperitif in which the products of the oven will be tasted and a glass of a selected Lucanian wine. The duration of the entire laboratory is about an hour and a half, the language spoken during the laboratory can be Italian or English.
The times, duration and content of the experience can be modulated on the basis of the needs of the group.
